Sweet ‘n’ Sassy

Filed under: General News — Kyle at 10:40 am on Tuesday, February 24, 2009

No, I’m not putting out a personal ad, though I have often been called those things. OK, not sassy. And well, not sweet. But definitely ‘n’. But I digress. On my way out of the store last night, I had a sudden craving for some chips and salsa. After perusing our salsa selections, I chose a jar of Profoun Sweet ‘n’ Sassy.

I was drawn both by the fact that it is a local product produced in the small city of Vergennes, as well as the fact that this particular variety is made with pure Vermont Maple Syrup. Being a native Vermonter, I was instantly in love. I mean, really, add maple syrup to anything and it becomes better. I put maple syrup on my steak. Sorry, off topic again.

This salsa is fan-freaking-tastic. Seriously, it goes great with chips and other typical salsa vessels, but I would just as soon pour it into a bowl and eat it with a spoon! The coupling of medium salsa heat with the smooth sweetness of maple syrup is incredibly satisfying. Don’t try to ration it. You aren’t going to have enough for a second snack. You’re gonna eat the whole jar. It’s alright. I do it too.

If for some crazy reason, maple syrup isn’t your thing (shame on you), there are Mild, Medium, and Hot varieties, which are all very delicious as well. Try them out. You won’t be disappointed.

Check out Profoun’s website here.

Do not lose hope

Filed under: General News — Kyle at 12:17 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Don’t worry, Animal Crackers will be returning. I know there has been a lot of worry on this subject, and after satiating the qualms of many a customer, I figured that I should get to the root of the problem.

No, there wasn’t an attack on the Animal Cracker warehouse from the people over at Keebler. No, PETA did not picket in front of the plant and demand the halting of production. And, no, the recent economic downturn has not made animal shaped cracker molds financially infeasible. As it turns out, there was just an unexpected spike in demand. But, our sales representative Johnny “Bam Bam” Bouchard, has assured me that they will be available as soon as possible, likely next week.

I know many of you, like myself, gauge my feeling of self-worth solely on my ability to obtain and enjoy Animal Crackers. Therefore, hope shall soon be restored. Rest easy.

Kyle

Mmmmm, free samples

Filed under: General News — Kyle at 4:24 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2009

Everybody likes free samples, right? However, when you visit the big stores, what do you usually get? Pre-made dishes served to you by someone who has little more purpose than heating it up. Come by our store for a completely different experience. Every Thursday, from 3pm-5pm, our own Frankie will be serving up delicious samples for all to enjoy. Furthermore, not only does Frankie prepare all of these dishes himself, but he also takes pride in hand-selecting all of the ingredients himself. There will be recipe cards available and all of the ingredients are available in our store.
