Depending on your expertise in sleuthing, you may or may not have noticed that there has not been a plethora of blog posts lately. The holidays have kept us all quite busy and unfortunately, the blog has suffered. But, fret not, I am back!

Speaking of the holidays, I hope that you all had a great one! Or a great two. There are a lot of them. We here at the supermarket were happy that we could help so many of you get ready for your holiday festivities. Of course, there is one more big one coming up at the end of the year, and we will be ready with anything you might need to ring in the new year. Wow, 2008 is already over. We had a great year and we look forward to another year of providing for all your grocery needs!

If you need a nice bottle of bubbly for the New Year’s celebration, come on in and check out our selection. Our wine expert Justin has stocked our shelves with a delicious assortment of sparkling wines and champagnes.

So, Happy New Year! Unless of course you follow the Chinese calendar, then I guess I will wait until January 26. Oh, and if you follow the Mayan calendar, then it would be July 26. Either way, have a fantastic Wednesday night this week! Wooooo!

People like Henry Gebo have helped make Shelburne Supermarket a fantastic place to work and shop.

Henry started in the Butcher Shop at the Shelburne Supermarket when Steve and Brad were still stock clerks, back in the early 70s!

Henry and Patti came back as a “package deal,” as Henry put it, in 1999, in order to “escape the hectic pace of working for the big box stores.” Henry enjoyed the atmosphere of our store, where he could practice his art and be appreciated in a hometown community.

Henry and Patti both grew up, raised a family, and still reside in the Vergennes area.

We’re asking for financial donations to help ease the monetary burden on Henry and Patti as Henry undergoes treatment for Glioblastoma, an aggressive type of primary brain tumor, which he was diagnosed with this past October. He is currently undergoing six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. One hundred percent of cash and checks donated will go directly to Henry and Patti.

You can find donation buckets at the Deli, Meat department, and Customer Service desk in our store.
