Thanksgiving Preparation

Filed under: General News — Kyle at 1:09 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2008

What is more important than the turkey on Thanksgiving? Nothing, conversation over. But, almost as important are all of the delicious side dishes that go along with the bird. Often times, these sides dishes combined take much more time and effort to prepare than the turkey itself. Maybe you have a lot of people coming over. Maybe you have a cramped food preparation area. Or maybe you are just lazy. Whatever the reason, if you don’t feel like toiling over side dishes, why don’t you give a call in to the great people working in our deli. They are fully prepared to craft any thanksgiving sides that you might want. Please give them a minimum of 48 hours notice.

Oh, and they can actually cook the bird for you too, if you really want to sit with your feet up this holiday season.

Campaign: Lewis ‘08

The election of 2008 is shaping up to be one of the most important elections in recent history. Is it because our counrty is facing economic turmoil and foreign relations degradation and we need a strong candidate to rectify both? No, no no. It is because our own Marc Lewis is running for Justice of the Peace in Shelburne. A Justice of the Peace has a variety of responsibilities, though the one Marc seems most excited about is the ability to perform marriages and civil unions. So, if you have always wanted to get married by a bald-headed guy wearing shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, vote for Marc Lewis on November 4.

Cu,
Kyle
Paid for by the Committee to Elect Marc Lewis.

Inspiration

So, upon waking up this morning and seeing a few less-than-matured snowflakes falling from the sky, I was struck with a single, unavoidable thought. Soup! More importantly, French Onion Soup.

Some people dread the approach of Winter, but I like to focus on the positive aspects of it. Again, soup! If you haven’t already guessed, I am a slight fan of soup. Therefore, it should be no surprise that I rushed to work early with the intention of doing all in my power to convince Chef Bob to craft some French Onion Soup for the day.

To my delight, Chef Bob, seemingly omniscient, was already deep in the initial stages of concocting the very soup I was craving. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning (or Haunnukah week, or Ramadan month, whatever, you get the idea), and my elation knew no bounds.

The point is, cold weather is here, and to help combat the shivers, our Deli Department offeres freshly homemade soups everyday. If you are reading this today, you should really come in and try the French Onion. It is superlatively fantastically great. And, if you can’t make it today, no need to dread, it is more than likely that I will be convincing Bob to make it again much more often that he should.

Oh, and all our other soups are incredible as well! I’m only slightly biased toward this one in general. Soup on!

Bidai,
Kyle

Cranberries

Thanksgiving is coming up, and what is a Thanksgiving meal without the cranberry sauce? It’s incomplete, that’s what it is. If you make your own sauce, might I suggest you try using some delicious fresh cranberries from The Vermont Cranberry Company. We just got them in last week and should have then available throughout the holidays.

Northern Spies are widely considered the best apples for baking, so if an apple pie is in your future, you should really come pick up some Spies.
