You know the seaons have official changed when the produce deparment starts looking differently. When you come in, you’ll now find a succulent assortement of Springtime fruits. And, really, what’s better than a delicious piece of fruit on a warm Spring/Summer morning?

Take a stroll through our amazing produce department and you’ll find mouth-watering California apricots, peaches, necarines and cherries.

If you are anything like me, you think that flatbread might be the most delicious food ever conceived by a human. Do you want to make your own at home? Well, good news then. We have the perfect product!

We are now carrying Mach’s Wood-Fired Gourmet Pizza Crusts. They are available in two sizes, 12oz. Family Size ($5.49) and 5oz. Personal Size ($3.79). You also have the choice between White and Multi-Grain crusts. We recently got to sample this product at the store, and as a flatbread lover, I can say they are absolutely fantastic.

So come grab a crust, add to it your favorite fresh, local produce and local meat ingredients for a delicious summer meal. You’ll find the crusts right in front of our Deli.

Need a new water bottle for those summertime walks, hikes, or bike rides? Why not express yourself with a snazzy Sigg water bottle. We’ve recently got in a whole new supply of Sigg water bottles, with a variety of interesting designs.

They are availble in both the 1 litre and 0.6 litre varieties. We also have plenty of tops, as well as sport caps for easy sipping when you’re on the move.

Our Meat Department will be carrying Soft Shell Crab as of this Saturday, the 1st of May. They will be at the same price they were last season, $5.99 each.

As an insatiable coffee-addict, I am pleased to announce that as of this Thursday (March 25), we will be carrying coffee from the Vermont Artisan Coffee and Tea Company. I recently had the opportunity to visit their facility and participate in a sampling of a number of their roasts. Everything I tasted was delicious. So much so that I’ve been drinking their coffee all week at home.

On Thursday, we will be bringing in their products to the store. We are starting with four of their more popular roasts and will expand our line as demand allows.

To help usher in this new product, Vermont Artisan Coffee will be running a couple of demo in our store. The first demo will be on Saturday, March 27th and will feature their “Black Series” as well as their Decaffeinated coffee. The second demo will be a week later, on Saturday, April 3rd, and will feature a couple of their higher-end roasts, likely including the Brazil, Ipanema Rio Verde. I tasted it while I visited their operation and it is utterly fantastic. Plus, it will be our first coffee from Brazil in the store, so if you are eager to try coffee from a new region, this will be your chance.

So come on by during the demos and try a cup of their coffee. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Back on the first of the year, the Shelburne Supermarket eliminated the use of plastic shopping bags and began a vehement push for the use of cloth and other reusable grocery bags. There were those that were skeptical, but so far we have received nothing but support and excitement. We thank you all for that.

Compared to last year, in just the first there weeks of the year, we have experienced a 64% increase in the number of reusable grocery bags used in our store! Almost 2,000 more bags used. We predict this percentage to increase as the year goes on.

Aside from the ChicoBags we are giving away with a $50 purchase, we also have new 99-cent reusable bags available for purchase. These very affordable bags are made of high-quality material and will last you a very long time! Plus, with our bag discount, use it twenty times and it’s already paid for itself!

According to experts, Ginger Jack will “keep you so healthy that germs around you will spontaneously convert into flowers and baby animals.” OK, I may have paraphrased there. But, this stuff will certainly help keep your immune system running at its optimum.

Hey Everyone,
I am excited to announce that we now offer Vermont Coffee Company in bulk! We just set up a beautiful new bulk display in our coffee section. It allows you, the customer, not only the ability to portion out just the right amount of coffee, but also offers new, exciting flavors for you to try. The new flavors are as follows:

French Country Roast - A traditional continental dark roast with a clean, crisp taste.
Downtown Blend - A high-mountain blend roasted medium dark with a balanced, pleasant taste.
Full City Roast - A smooth, mellow, full-bodied coffee. Also makes a great espresso.
Italian Rustica - An old world peasant style with a rusty, smokey flavor. Their darkest roast.

I’ve personally tried two of their new flavors already and they are fantastic. If you are a fan of dark coffees, you would be doing yourself a serious disservice not to try the Italian Rustica. It is great. I also tried the Downtown Blend, which was also delicious, especially if you are more inclined toward a somewhat lighter coffee.

You can find the new display in our coffee section. The bulk Vermont Coffee Copmany coffee is offered at a very competitive price of $9.29 /lb, but can be purchased at this time at the special introductory price of $8.99 /lb.
